This installation, created for the Basque government, reinterprets in a conceptual fashion the Lauburu, one of the most quintessential symbol of the culture and identity of the Basque people, which symbolizes a moving sun.
The curvilinear form of the Lauburu is transformed into four singular dots which serve conceptually as a base for the perforated panels and colours of the installation.
The upper part of the modular structure is perforated, while the lower part comprises a plain element. Between these sections, a dichroic transparency reflects the upper perforated panel at the bottom creating a sense of continuity and adding an extra dimension to the piece. The dichroic material uncouples the original monochrome physical structure from its iridescent reflection. Thus, the transparency changes color depending on the angle of vision and the lighting of the space, creating an immersive environment for viewers. As such, the interaction is a fundamental part of the installation, the ever-shifting, dynamic dialogue between audience and the piece stimulating feelings and reflections about the Euskadi Basque Country brand.
